Fabulous designers and fashionistas…..spread the news – it’s on again!

Due to overwhelming success and favourable public feedback, Worn Wild is now a biannual event with the next instalment on Sunday the 15th of March coinciding with L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Worn Wild, a public access, all-ages alt-designer market and trade fair first made its debut as part of the 2008 official program of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. It was a huge success, attracting over 500 customers. Beyond this the effects are still being felt today through the increased sales and customer base of all the participating local and interstate designers and because most of the 27 exhibitors picked up new stockists from around Australia. We want to recreate that success again so you’ll be guaranteed we’re getting louder and larger than ever before!

For customers and industry buyers “Worn Wild” is the one-stop shop for all styles alternative. It’s a chance to see the full range on offer from each designer, try on items you have only ever seen on the net or order a custom-made design. You’ll be amazed by all the eye candy (punters and products!), individuality, diversity and volume on show.

Presented by GeoMythik / Starseeded Productions and hosted at La di da at 577 Little Bourke Street, “Worn Wild” features fashion, jewellery, giftware, homeware and accessories from cutting edge local and interstate designers. Rockabilly, raver, clubwear, cyberstyle, corsetry, street style, emo, gothic, lolita, queer, vintage, burlesque and flower powered flavours burst in a unique indoor/outdoor bustling market atmosphere. Doors open at 1pm with a frenzy of fashion and entertainment. Full bar, food service and atmospheric beats ensure that Worn Wild has it all.

Worn Wild is the first event of its kind in Australia. It caters to some of the most exciting ‘niches’ and is a hotspot for alternative and emerging designers less likely to be influenced by the latest season’s looks, hemlines, celebrities or new blacks. Finally there is a sales-driven, captivating and high energy event that does more than just put fashion on show.
Worn Wild – Offering a platform for design companies at the edge of fashion.

The very first - All AltDiva.com Photoshoot!

Of course, i can't say 100% that this is the very first, but seeing that the site is still under 2 weeks old, and no one has laid claim yet, i'm taking the credit for it!

So, by now your probably wondering WTF i'm talking about, Well yesterday I (I being http://www.altdiva.com/andrewoatham) shot the ravishing MsNicotina (http://www.altdiva.com/msnicotina) & Melbourne's best makeup artist, MakeUpByLisa (http://www.altdiva.com/makeupbylisa) was on makeup & hair / styling ... So you can see, everyone involved was a member of AltDiva.com!

It's a bit early to show you the fruits of our labour, but I can tell you that we shot 3 beautifully naughty sets of MsNicotina, for an up and coming adult website - which we're not currently allowed to name :o( ....

Heres a 'safe for work' pic (before the photoshop work), preview of the start of one set ...

And for all the photo geeks heres a few pics of the setup.

For this shoot we made a giant softbox out of polystyrene bounce boards, and a custom made monster flash unit ... So heres the overall picture of what it all looked like.

Your see 2 lots of lights. On the left, a grid with a blue gel over the top, and on the right the monster softbox ... Here's the softbox pulled apart.

Note the rather large flash tubes. The polly boards are setup in a triangle, with the point of the triangle pointing at the model, and the flash tubes pointing away from the model (the photo light comes from the light bouncing around inside the triangle and escaping thru the point. The point is only open around half a foot, this gives a sharp line of lighting. The opening is covered with a translucent material which 'softens' the light. The small opening is directed away from the background otherwise it would wash out the blue grid light.

And here's the blue background lighting.

The background lighting effect is made by the paper you see thats cut up, with a strobe & very tight grid behind it cover by a blue gel ... It might look like someone has sliced a bit of paper up, and then clumsily tried to tape it back together, but believe me, it took a long time to stick that together to get the background I was looking for. The polly boards scattered around are to stop the light 'spilling' out where i don't want it ...

Equipment used for the shoot - Canon MK III Ds, Canon EF 135L & Canon 85mm L II USM

Bye for now!
